The Three Peas: Est 2010
It all started in 2010. The three of us, serendipitously, met on a Habitat for Humanity Global Village build in Costa Rica. We bonded over our love of adventure, back of the bus shenanigans, dancing on slippery bathroom floors, and our overall urge to see the world and expand our fuzzy comfort bubbles. Although we lived in different parts of the country, we always looked forward to meeting in another part of the world and exploring it together. Since then, we have adventured on Habitat Builds in Thailand and Africa, and on retreats in Iceland, Bali, Mexico, Cuba, Egypt, Croatia and Italy, to name a few.
From the beginning, we were so close that we called ourselves “three peas in a pod”. We were truly happy when we were all together; adventuring together, and meeting other like-minded people. We decided we wanted to do that for others. We would bring interesting people together in search of a similar experience and provide a space where everyone can be themselves; whether you come alone or with friends, all are welcome in a clique-free environment.
We have immersed ourselves in the locations we host retreats so that we can provide an ideal experience and include all the best adventures. We create experiences for people who, like us, would rather spend their time enjoying their travels without having to worry about all the planning involved.
Our mission is to facilitate international adventure and wellness retreats that bring together interesting people, in search of a similar experience and provide a space where everyone can be themselves. Whether a person comes alone or with friends, all are welcome in a clique-free environment.
Three Peas Adventures was founded in 2021 by a group of travel enthusiasts who wanted to make it easier for people to discover new destinations, cultures, and experiences. Having met each other on a similar type of trip, we know first hand just how valuable bringing the right group of people together can be. We are passionate about travel and believe that everyone deserves to have amazing adventures. Unlike traditional yoga retreats, Three Peas Adventures proudly embraces the concept of a balanced, multi-faceted experience. While we recognize the importance of health and well-being, we also understand that true balance encompasses so much more than hours of yoga practice and strict detox regimens. We believe in creating an environment where health, healing, inspiration, adventure, culture, landscapes, delicious food, good vibes from feel-good folks, and fun times seamlessly intertwine. A setting where like-minded individuals gather to connect, share stories, create memories, experience true joy, and forge lifelong friendships while simultaneously incorporating the healing elements of yoga, meditation, and self-inquiry work for an enhanced experience.
Meet team member Laura Gisi, our Retreat Curator and "Head Cheese."
After attending her first international yoga retreat in Iceland, Laura quickly realized that the combination of travel and yoga were truly the best of both worlds. Her interest in international travel was well established early in life, but it was not until 2001, when her mother passed away from breast cancer, that she discovered yoga. She used it as a means to cope, finding solace in the practice as a way to stay grounded both physically and emotionally. After deepening her yoga practice and seeing the undeniable effects of incorporating it into her daily life, she decided to become an instructor so she could share those benefits with others.
Laura believes that yoga teaches us how to exist in the present moment, fully experiencing the connection that happens between mind, body and soul while international travel allows you to leave your comfort zone and expand your horizons. Becoming a Yoga Instructor and Adventure Travel Guide has allowed Laura to combine her passions and transfer that passion to others. She has honed both her leadership and travel skills during her adventures in dozens of countries and has also led and/or participated in yoga retreats in Asia, Africa, Bali, Iceland, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Italy, Peru and Mexico to name a few.
Laura is passionate about emboldening others to discover their own true potential and awakening them to the infinite possibility that already resides within them. Her favorite part about leading international retreats is watching people transform by experiencing a deeper connection with nature, taking part in cultural exchange, trying new foods, going on adventures, expanding their yoga practice, and bonding with like-minded individuals. She looks forward to welcoming you on a future adventure and watching you sore to new heights!

Kristen grew up in the small one stoplight town of Sherman, Connecticut. As the daughter of teachers, she spent summers camping around the United States. Growing up traveling across the country was the beginning of her love of adventure.
Her international travels started after college when she started working for travel industry research company, Phocuswright. After business trips, she would venture off to further explore whatever country her work brought her to. These trips helped to foster her want to see more and more of the world – so off she went. She worked at Phocuswright for nearly a decade and since then, her personal travel and yoga/adventure retreats have taken her to Iceland, Costa Rica, Thailand, Lesotho, Egypt, Jordan, Mexico, Bali, India, Cambodia, Italy and Ireland to name a few.
In 2013 she ventured to Iceland for her first yoga/adventure retreat. She was a bit apprehensive because she halfway expected to feel a bit out of place; expecting yoga all day, extensive bouts of meditation and a serious and focused atmosphere. It wasn’t at all! It was a wonderful group of like-minded adventure seekers who shared a love of exploration, food, activity and fun. After that first retreat, she was hooked, and has been on over half a dozen since then.
Kristen has been in the hospitality industry for years and received her master’s degree in Operations and Brand Strategy at the New York University Tisch Center for Hospitality. Since then, she has worked in, designed spaces in, and managed boutique hotels in the Northeast and in India. With her years in customer centric roles, she has fine-tuned her skills in anticipating needs, genuinely loves meeting new people, and loves creating comfortable spaces and environments for those who are away from home.
She’s learned a lot from years of travel and is always excited to share her experiences and hear about the experiences of others.
Growing up in a small town, and the daughter of teachers, Kimberly spent her childhood summers in Cape Cod in a pop up camper, or traveling across the country in a camper van. Kimberly also grew up with her twin sister Kristen, just FYI in case you are wondering why their bio introductions are so similar!
Kimberly has worked at travel research giant, Phocuswright, since 2004 where she is currently the senior manager of events. Running and coordinating logistics for events takes a lot of organization, preparation and attention to detail; Kimberly has mastered those skills. Managing CEO’s of top travel companies is a lot like herding cats – it’s a difficult task but armed with the right skills, it can be done…and Kimberly gets it done.
Although Kimberly had yet to board a plane until college, she has more than made up for it since then. Between work and pleasure, she’s traveled as far as India and China, Egypt and Jordan, throughout Europe and many place in between! While working towards her MBA, she studied a summer in Italy, which taught her many things…including the best combinations of gelato! She loves learning about each location she travels to, giving back on Habitat for Humanity trips and immersing herself in local environments and of course, eating all the foods! She enjoys the pre-trip research and setting a ‘skeleton itinerary’ where you have the essentials planned but you give yourself time to ‘get lost’ and explore. And she’s looking forward to sharing and learning more thru Three Peas Adventures!
Kimberly has a bachelors degree in Marketing and an MBA from Western Connecticut State University.
